The top decks belong to Carnival Jubilee's Lido and Ultimate Playground zones. The former houses the ship's main pool, along with the RedFrog Tiki Bar, BlueIguana Cantina and Guy's Burger Joint. The ship's Grand Central zone, which houses Center Stage, also serves as an entertainment venue.
Ship Overview
On one occasion, the app said Seafood Shack opened half an hour earlier than it did, while the paper version of the daily schedule had the correct information. Another time, the printed daily had the wrong theater show listed for that night; the correct one was posted in the HUB. On another day, the printed schedule was missing part four of a four-part show, which did show up on the agenda in the app.
Location of Guy's Burger Joint
Saying goodbye to some cruise friends who were only onboard for the day, it was back to our regularly scheduled cruise program. Java Blue is the coffee house on Carnival Jubilee serving up all your espresso-based beverages, along with milkshakes. And of course, with Gwen Stefani as godmother, the formalities ended with a mini-concert featuring some of her top hits.
Kids club
Super casual items such as cutoff jeans, men's sleeveless shirts, T-shirts and gym shorts are supposedly not permitted, but I saw plenty of them in the dining rooms during dinnertime on Carnival Jubilee. Carnival Jubilee has self-service pressing rooms on decks 4, 5, 9, 14 and 15 with ironing boards and irons that are free to use. Instead, passengers can send out their clothing for washing, pressing and dry-cleaning for a per-item fee. My favorite bar on Carnival Jubilee is the Marina Bar in The Shores zone on Deck 8.
Carnival Jubilee features 811 standard interior cabins which are 158 square feet each. Interior means that they’re located in the interior of the ship and don’t feature any windows. They include two twin beds that can convert to a king, with some able to sleep up to four guests. Because everyone is so busy exploring the ship (or port, if it's not a sea day), they're generally not thinking about the spa. It's no secret that deals abound at cruise ship spas if you know where to look and when to book. Whether you're yearning for a facial or have your heart set on a massage, you can often bag bargains when you reserve more than one treatment or schedule yourself for services on port days, when most passengers are ashore.
Kids (and kids at heart) might enjoy The Warehouse arcade, which is adjacent to the tweens’ club on deck 17. BINGO, a classic game to pass time on a sea day, is also on the schedule aboard Carnival Jubilee. The ship’s Ultimate Playground zone, located on deck 18 aft, features Carnival’s WaterWorks aqua park complete with water slides, a tipping bucket, and more.
It’s a private port area of sorts similar to Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic. Here, you’ll find a beach, restaurants and bars, shops, watersports, and cabanas. Guests can also book shore excursions that venture beyond the port area. While the beach is free, pretty much everything else will cost you extra money though.

On my sailing, I was in a 341-square-foot Ocean Suite capable of sleeping four people with a queen bed, a twin sofa bed and a single bunk that pulled down from the ceiling. In addition to tons of closet and drawer space, there were two TVs, a sizeable balcony and a ton of USB ports. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a cruise ship almost entirely to yourself? I have, and for two days this week, I had the chance to experience it.
Carnival Jubilee Cruise Review – Disembarkation
On the bottom floor of the atrium is the Center Stage Bar with the ship’s lively Piano Bar 88 just around the corner. It features its own pool, hot tubs, salad bar, and the Serenity Pool Bar. This bar offers all of your standard options as well as wines, champagnes, beers, signature cocktails, and a variety of sangrias that can be purchased by the glass or by the pitcher. There are lots of bars and lounges throughout the Carnival Jubilee cruise ship.

The XL-Class is similar in design and facilities to Excellence/Helios-Class ships produced for Carnival Corporation's brands Costa and AIDA by Meyer Werft. Thankfully, our 2 PM flight was smooth sailing, and we returned to Boston without issue. Now, we are home for just over a week before heading back out once again. Next up is Princess Cruises’ brand-new Sun Princess followed by a Seine River cruise with Viking.
My two most disappointing extra-fee food encounters on Carnival Jubilee were Seafood Shack (Deck 16, in the Lido zone, near the pool) and room service. Shaq's Big Chicken, a restaurant backed by basketball great Shaquille O'Neal (who is also Carnival's CFO, chief fun officer), is perfect if you have a hankering for some fried chicken. In addition to chicken strips, sandwiches and fries, the counter-service venue also serves breakfast. Do yourself a favor and try the chicken and biscuit combo with fries. Unless you specifically request your cabin steward to come at night for turndown service instead of earlier in the day, your room will be made up in the morning. Hang the "SNOOZIN'" card on the outside of your door, and no one will bother you — but your room won't be cleaned that day.
The fitness center, which is free to use, is equipped with LifeFitness machines, exercise balls, dumb bells and other amenities. Alcoholic beverages are charged a la carte unless you have a drink package that covers the price. Choose from sparkling, white, red and rose wines or unique-to-Rudi's cocktails, such as Seagrill Sangria and the Santorini Martini. Use the line's app to request a table shortly before you're ready to head to your restaurant of choice. You can walk from the Golden Mermaid bar (which boasts a giant wall mural featuring mermaids and hidden references to SpongeBob SquarePants) through an archway designed to look like a whale skeleton. On other cruise lines, guests have the option to make pre-cruise reservations even with flexible dining. Over-planners like ourselves appreciate this option as we can schedule our day and not stand around waiting. For lunch today, we decided to check Shaq’s Big Chicken off the list. Though, the lines here and at Guy’s Burgers can get quite long, so plan accordingly.
While the decor and finishes are very basic, the room was functional and had quite a bit of storage. Just off Icon of the Seas, we appreciated the extra shelves and space in this closet. Since we were part of a small media group hosted by the cruise line on this sailing, we had a private transfer from the airport to Galveston. Though, Carnival does also offer transfers to the port on embarkation day. With comedy shows, Playlist Productions, and various other Fun Squad activities, there is never a dull moment on Carnival Jubilee. Relive our experiences in this day-by-day Carnival Jubilee review.
The Bonsai Teppanyaki™ experience is set to delight guests aboard Carnival Jubilee™. Take a little time out of vacation to sit down to a selection of tempting appetizers, before your chef prepares the main course featuring selections of meats, tofu, fish, shrimp or lobster… right at your table. In the teppanyaki tradition — and Carnival’s tradition of fun — expect an interactive, satisfying meal full of surprise and delicious delight.
Ours features your choice of steak cuts, lobster, lamb and more… and inside, there’s even a full bar that pours great pairings. These are the building blocks of an amazing experience — delectable elements that combine with great service to offer an evening to remember. Rudi’s Seagrill™ is the brainchild of cookbook author and master chef Rudi Sodamin. He has years of experience pleasing palates of vacationers… and this guy loves serving up a smile as much as Carnival does! But he’s serious about seafood, and an evening at Rudi’s proves it through the courses. Enjoy selections like seafood bisque and crab-stuffed lobster tail imperial — all served with an elegant flair that pays proper tribute to the beauty of the ocean from which so much fun, and flavor, arises.
